I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Georgia and Florida. I have been counseling since 2002 and have been licensed as a therapist since 2008. I have a B.A. in Psychology (2004), a M.S. in Marriage & Family Therapy (2007), and a Doctorate in Public Administration (2013), all from Valdosta State University. I have experience from a variety of settings, including community-based therapy, in-home therapy, private practice, inpatient crisis stabilization, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient. I have worked in these settings both as a clinician and as an administrator. My varied experience lends me the knowledge and tools to address a broad spectrum of mental health and administrative issues.

My Therapeutic Style

I enjoy the healing process, walking that journey with my clients. I love seeing the change before my eyes, watching the light chase away the shadows on their faces and their eyes. Sharing the healing journey with others is an honor and a privilege. Over the years I have worked in many settings and have seen a wide variety of therapeutic issues. In my current practice I focus on identifying and resolving the "root" issues underneath what is identified as the problem behavior or issue. My goal is full resolution, not symptom management. I use a variety of models and techniques, but the most common modalities I use are: EMDR, DBT, IFS, and CBT.

I would say that therapy is not for the faint of heart. I would also say that therapy is necessary if you want to fully enjoy and live your life! Life is complex, ever-changing, unpredictable, and regularly throws "curve balls," so to speak. It is a natural part of self-care to seek therapy to assist in the process of adjusting to various changes, transitions, and life events that occur. If you aren't sure therapy is for you, I encourage you to schedule an initial consultation--no charge!

I believe my clients largely feel validated, supported, and encouraged by their sessions with me. I often hear that they feel "lighter," or "more at peace," particularly following work on their deeper issues. I work to identify roots underneath presenting symptoms for full healing of unresolved issues for lasting improvement of anxiety, triggering, flashbacks, or negative core beliefs, for example. My goal is always that they will experience noticeable personal growth and healing.

If you are ready to start changing your life--contact me! I am excited to meet you!

Available Books:

For Clinicians: Kristi compiled a book of shareable resources for clinicians to use in sessions or to give out as handouts or take-home work for clients, The Therapy Toolbox: Resources for Clinicians. A variety of topics are covered, including: sleep health, anxiety, depression, self-regulation, gratitude, and creativity. These worksheets and handouts are meant to be photocopied or printed off and shared to your heart's content.

Kristi also developed a condensed guide of tips on working with young children and adolescents in therapy, designed to help those just starting out in their therapeutic work with children. Consider this the "cliff notes" version of effective therapy with children. Brief and concise, but packed with useful information and examples of how to use art, toys, games, and various therapeutic models with children. M.T. 2022

"Kristi is an amazing therapist. I have done more work on myself and my life with her than I have ever done. I have been in therapy for over 20 years. She has helped me tremendously with my Trauma and Addiction. She is kind and never judgmental of anything I say. She is in her job because she genuinely cares about her patients. I promise if you work with her, you and your life can get better--mine has."
